About Me

Alex Pitcher, London, UK

Hi! I’m Alex and I’m a British Male Voice-over Artist based in West London.

I started acting as a young teenager in Swindon, Wiltshire, and it has been part of my life ever since. After many years working for a small business in the client-facing corporate world, I wanted a new challenge. Therefore, I left for London and started training full time to be a professional actor.

I trained at The Poor School, near King’s Cross, London. During my time there I fell in love with the voice classes. Eventually, I found myself fascinated by voice-over and voice-over artists. As well as training me for Stage and Film, the teachers strongly recommended I look into voice-over and the industry of recorded voice.

Starting up in London

After 2 years, I finished my training at The Poor School. While, many of my peers were looking for acting agents, I wasn’t! Instead, I found myself spending all my time researching and developing my skills for voice-over acting.

I invested in some professional recording equipment and made the beginnings of a home studio in the corner of my bedroom. In that corner, I spent many hours practising and learning how to use it.

It wasn’t long before I got my first paid voice-over job. It was a corporate explainer video that would end up being shown internally to employees. They chose me for my neutral English accent and I delivered a very relaxed but corporate tone. It worked perfectly with the message they wanted to deliver. A throwback to my former life!

Since then, I have gone from a small bedroom studio to a large custom-built vocal booth which I share with my partner, Nic.  I’ve recorded voice-overs in London for some of the world’s biggest brands and some wonderful small to medium-sized companies. I’ve worked with game developers, local radio stations and so many interesting and unique companies. I’ve also recorded a huge 600,000 word e-learning project which really tested my skills!

I still love to act, which is why I’ve kept an interest in stage and film. As a bit of a geek, I’ve also been training in Motion Capture and have been lucky enough to have worn “the mocap suit” in 2 of the UK’s biggest and most famous mocap studios.

I love what I do and I do what I love. It has been an incredible ride so far.
